Do you run background checks on sitters?
No. We review profiles and documents, but parents must interview sitters, check references, and make their own judgment. See our About page.
How do I find a sitter in Amsterdam?
On the home page, choose babysitter or senior caregiver, enter your hotel name or street address, and select date and time. We match caregivers who serve that area.
What is the platform commission?
Global Sitters charges a 40% commission on completed jobs. Sitters set hourly rates with this in mind.
Can I book senior care as well as childcare?
Yes. Search for a senior caregiver using the same flow. Sitters can offer childcare, senior care, or both.
How are sitters approved?
Sitters complete a profile (photo, experience, languages, work areas, availability, passport for admin). An admin reviews and approves before they appear in search.
How do payments work?
Parents pay through the platform after a booking is accepted. Card payments are processed by Mollie, a licensed European payment provider. Global Sitters records the transaction, deducts the platform commission, and pays out the sitter's share after the job is completed. See Pricing for details.
Can I cancel a booking?
Yes, from your booking page. Cancellation fees may apply depending on how close to the start time you cancel — see Terms & Conditions section 14.
What languages are supported?
Sitters list the languages they speak. Use the language filter when searching, or pick a sitter who matches your family’s language.
Is my passport data public?
No. Passport details and photos are visible only to admins for verification. Public profiles show age, experience, languages, and certifications — not identity documents.
How do I change the site language?
We open the site in your browser's preferred language when a translation is available. To read the original English version, use the English link in the footer.
